Digital Atmosphere V1.1j1 has been released.
It's available at our download section:
http://www.weathergraphics.com/dl
Summary of changes:
* Fixed a problem with Digital Atmosphere wanting digatmos.rdz during U.S. radar plots. This was used for earlier testing of international radars. This caused a foreign radar image to be loaded directly on the workchart, regardless of workchart location.
* Fixed JTWC (West Pacific) typhoon tracking. In latitude/longitude coordinates JTWC used to append a number to the end of the N/S and E/W characters. This recent omission has thrown off the import routine, so the program has been patched to stop looking for these characters.
* Fixed frontal bulletins import. Digital Atmosphere now looks for $$ as a termination string for the bulletin (which NCEP seems to use now), in addition to the NNNN that was used earlier.
* Fixed nonexistent METAR gusts plotting as "G 0".
* Removed spaces within gust plot "G 15" now plots as "G15".
* Changed UK sferics source in Internet Resources Table for Albany.
* A warning will be triggered if VIS(SM) or VIS(M) is used in the plotting module. These are obsolete now but can't be scrubbed from use, so a warning will be used to notify users if its use is detected in Data Plots. The English/Metric toggle in Preferences > Meteorological controls which system is used. The use of VIS(SM) and VIS(M) are likely responsible for bad visibility plots.
* Fixed problem with visibility value crossreferencing. Digital Atmosphere stores all visibility data internally in meters. Unfortunately, any SM (mile) value above 6 was considered to be 9999 meters; this cap has been removed. Also incorrect values of miles to meters above 3 miles (from a WMO document, but probably set that way for coding purposes) has been fixed to use accurate conversions. This causes the visibility data to appear correctly in miles after being converted internally to meters and back.

Visibility plots
Thanks Tim,
Gusts are now fine.
I still cannot get any METARs to show visibility. In the UK the METAR visibility is issued in metres not SM i.e 5000 and then 9999 for 10kl or more.
Unless I convert the raw METAR from metres to a SM equivalent (and then display in metres!) all I get is a 'M' for all visibility plots.
Hope this makes sense..
Phil
